The majority of my students receive free or reduced breakfast and lunch at school, but do not have snacks available to them. Some students arrive late and miss breakfast and my students eat lunch early, leaving a long afternoon of learning. Children that are hungry are not able to focus and do their best. Having healthy snacks readily available for my students helps them to be happy and successful. Before real learning can take place, students’ basic needs must be met. Supplying my students with healthy snacks such as Nutri-grain bars, graham crackers, and fruit snacks will help my students feel loved and secure, giving them a great foundation to learn and grow.
