More than half of students from low‑income households
Data about students' economic need comes from the National Center for Education Statistics, via our partners at MDR Education.
My students received devices at the beginning of the year and were asked to purchase their own headphones/ earbuds to use throughout the day. We have been in school over 50 days and many of the students have nothing to use because the earbuds they purchased have broken or stopped working... hence, another one bites the dust! It seems at least one pair of earbuds stop working every other day. I feel headphones would be more durable, long lasting, and comfortable for the students to use. They would use the headphones throughout the day, specifically during literacy workstations, while I pull guided reading groups so as not to distract their friends that are working hard in reading groups.
