Many of my students have expressed how hard it is to hear or stay engaged because they have siblings also learning in the background. Some students are embarrassed to participate because of the background noise and will refuse to participate. It has been distracting, and some students have given up and log off.
At the beginning of the school year, we were 100% remote and up until we began hybrid, I was mailing incentives to students to keep them engaged and enthused about the lessons. These incentives included my Bitmoji with a positive message attached to a magnet, other free PBIS rewards, and gift cards. It worked! Students were engaged and enthused.
Weekly we play engaging games related to our learning focus of the week, and they are excited to show what they have learned – and compete against each other. I want to continue providing students with incentives to help keep them encouraged and motivated. These incentives would include headsets with a microphone as an additional reward.
I want to reward their participation and positive behavior during our remote learning, whether 100% remote or hybrid.
