In my steam classroom, I teach students how to design through various engineering and architectural platforms. One of the latest design projects was focused on coming up with ways in which we can develop modified furniture pieces for people with disabilities. They were to choose a specific disability of their choice and use the engineering platform to design it! Some of designs they came up with were developed for paraplegic individuals, individuals with dwarfism, blindness, cerebral palsy, etc. There designs were absolutely amazing.
A 3D printer would allow me to take their projects one step closer to the "REAL WORLD" with getting the experience of seeing their project come to life. In addition, this would allow them to do future projects to showcase their learning and increased understanding of the engineering platforms!
Because I teach the entire school (my coworker and I), I would be able to share this with over 700 students!
