My students come from all different cultural backgrounds and we are a Title I school with ALL students receiving free/reduced-price lunch.
Currently, students who are returning to school are mandated to wear masks and they feel uncomfortable, isolated, and have a great sense of fear about contracting COVID-19. While the students are eager to be back in the learning environment, we understand that not all students have access to the designer and stylish masks that other students may show up wearing.
Students will be able to show their individualism and style with a custom mask that they can create in their critical thinking class.
Giving students an opportunity to individualize something for themselves not only improves their self-esteem but it can keep them safe as well.
