Reading centers in a classroom are important to help students learn how to work independently or collaboratively, while they are meeting literacy goals. A set of Kindle Fires would create a fun, 21st century reading center for my class and expose all of my students, (especially my ESL students), to language fluency while introducing all students to new words.
Imagine a kindergarten class with an old CD player, and a book all hooked up to the same player with headsets. Along with that, imagine students having to share one book, and taking turns "turning the page." Imagine them getting up and moving to the next center and tripping over all the cords from the headphones.
It is not always a smooth experience.
This is why we would love to have these kindles. Thank you so much for your consideration in donating to this classroom.
