6th graders are already learning the importance of independent thinking and taking responsibility for their choices and actions. Choosing a comfortable seat that enhances their learning is no different. Students who are comfortable with their seating choice are more likely to participate in whole-class discussions (everyone gathered in our "living room") and show more stamina when working independently (quiet corner on the bean bag chair or yoga mat under their desk). Incorporating as many flexible seating options as possible in our classroom will ensure all students have the opportunity to succeed.
