The center will be a dedicated space for students to work with their peers at all steps of the writing process and all writing assignments across the curriculum. Our hope in building this center is that our students, no matter where they are in terms of academic skills, will find a place where they can grow and develop as writers.
We believe that every student has a voice and needs the confidence to express that. Our center will offer a low-pressure place to work on these skills with their peers, which will lessen their anxiety about seeking help and will increase the likelihood of their coming in for assistance. Dedicated tutors will assist their peers with writing.
Our writing center will provide a central place for students who are struggling and will create a community and a school that focuses on effective, impactful writing and communication, which will serve students both academically and in their lives outside the school walls. In order to launch this center, we will need funds to provide furniture and supplies to set up the tutoring space. By establishing the Student Writing Center, we are creating a culture and a community of growth and success.
