I use this book to discuss the problems with what appears to be a "perfect society". Students are able to explore the concepts of loss and sacrifice and what it means to live in a society that is completely controlled.
This book has been proven to engage urban students because they can relate to several of the topics presented in the literature. It is a great device for getting them interested in reading. It would be so helpful to be able to give them a hard copy of the book to read at home.
