Help me give my students a basic supply kit for 8th grade to allow learning to continue in our classes and at home. Many of my students lack basic classroom supplies and this past year has really emphasized this with students only able to use materials that they have at their home. While we were working remote, students struggled to find paper and pencils to write out math problems. They also did not have headphones to listen to our class instruction without the distractions of siblings also having their audio on for their own classes.
I want to start next year off right by having a supply kit with everything they may need to complete their school work in all of their classes.
Students need binders for organizing their work and pencil cases to keep track of their pens, pencils, and other writing tools. Colored pencils and markers are wonderful for color coding notes in math and emphasize the steps for solving problems. Many classes have students work on projects where they need scissors for cutting.
One benefit of this last year is our district finally has laptops for every student. This is great for them to continue working at home but can be a little loud when students are all listening to a different lesson online while in class. If each student has their own earbuds, we will not have the added distraction of a noisy class and competing audios from 30 laptops.
