I teach ninth grade Intensive Reading in one of largest districts that Central Florida has. The school that I work is one of the High Schools with the largest Non English Speaking population in the area. The school is a Title 1 school, which means that more than half of the population that we served are underprivileged. Students receive free meals at school and some receive backpacks to take home for the weekend. Still under these conditions students are eager to learn and be successful. Most of our students are first generation to graduate from High School and be able to attend College, University, or Trade School.
I’m requesting your help to be able to alleviate the stress to these families, by providing each of my students with an interactive notebook to use on our reading class. Students will be able to learn how to organize their work, thoughts and ideas while reading. Our school recently became an AVID National Demonstration School and we are encouraged to use interactive notebooks. Last school year student’s had a great time doing their interactive notebooks and having all their notes handy to study at home.
I would love to provide interactive notebooks to all of my students this up coming school year. This will ensure that non of the students stay behind with their work because they’re family cannot afford to buy one. Providing them with a interactive notebook will help them with their confidence and self esteem. With your help they will be a bit closer to be successful in my class.
