All of these learning materials will be used to support in-person student learning. With fun and flexible seating options during small group time, students will be more engaged in learning as they sit and work together with classmates. As educators, differentiating instruction is necessary for helping all students succeed. To do this, it is important to first collect data by assessing student knowledge so that we may individualize instruction by meeting each student where they are at academically. By giving them the privacy that they need during each assessment with these privacy partitions, I will be able to collect accurate data. Accurate assessments of their skills and knowledge will also allow me to reflect on the effectiveness of my own teaching strategies.
Second grade is a challenging and valuable time in a child's life. As you may already know, a classroom is like a second home for most children. For these reasons, I want to make sure that my classroom has all of the resources it needs to help students be successful. Although what I am asking for might seem minimal, it is all a part of something big.
For example, learning place value is an important part of second grade. As a result, I wish to have place value magnets that I can use on my white board during morning meeting to represent different numbers (great visual!). The repetitive and consistent use of these magnets will allow all students to finish their year as place value experts.
Thank you!
