Working with struggling readers at the middle school level is difficult. They are embarrassed and don't want to make mistakes in front of their peers. So that I can build a safe environment to work with my students, I will use small group rotations during our hour together. One rotation with be a listening and recording practice.
By donating to my project, you will help provide each student in my classes with their own headphone set with a mic. They can listen to fluent readers and practice their own reading while being recorded.
Research has shown that students that listen to good readers and then practice reading through recording themselves improve both their fluency and comprehension.
