First of all my students are awesome! The majority of the kids at my school come from low-socioeconomic backgrounds, so enrichment and experiences in school are so important because this may be the only place they get those opportunities. Most of these students don't have basic art supplies at their home such as a box of crayons. This is heartbreaking to me as an art teacher. I will be creating this project with my green team students. These students are part of a small club that takes care of the recycling in our school as well as other ecological projects. They are excited about learning how to care for our planet. They bring in recycling from their homes and love learning about animals and gardening! We recently learned about the highway that is going to be built through the Serengeti and how it will effect the animals of Africa and their habitat. The students drew African animals to make a bulletin board to spread awareness on this topic! They love the planet and art!
