My students aren’t able to sit in standard chairs for extended periods of time. Therefore, I would like to provide them with an opportunity to choose seating that fits their unique needs.
My students also experience insecurity and need to feel the pressure of being hugged in an effort to soothe them. Therefore, a weighted vest would give my students the support that they need throughout the day. The weighted vest would provide my students with the closeness that is needed to feel safe. In addition to uncomfortable seating and feelings of insecurity, my students also struggle with the bright lights that are in our classroom as well. Therefore, I would like to provide them with alternative sensory lights to help them focus on learning. Finally, the sensory toys would be used to help build fine motor skills. My students need to touch and squeeze items to enhance learning experiences.
