Purchasing these texts will allow over 300 students access to current award winning literature! The Sunshine State Young Readers Award (SSYRA) Program is a statewide reading motivational program for students from Kindergarten to Grade 5. Sunshine State books are selected for their commitment to diversity, student appeal, and connection to curriculum. Primary students will receive library lessons based off each Sunshine JR book during Library Resource class and be able to check out the books to read independently. Intermediate students will participate in first chapter book talks, novel studies, and participate in a school wide reading program. Students who read 3 or more books from the Sunshine State 3-5 list will be invited to vote on their favorite book, attend an end of year ice cream party and receive brag tags for each book read!
