Reading should be all about what you like! And that goes for Spanish class, too. Choosing a book because it catches your interest is a great pleasure, and leads to pleasure in reading itself.
With these books, students in Spanish class will have quiet reading time during which they are allowed to choose a book in the target language to read independently at their own pace. The books themselves are chosen to be at the class reading level, with glossaries in the back to aid in comprehension so that students do not have to break immersion in the book to understand any parts that may be more difficult.
As a result, student engagement and interest will also be increased, as well as building confidence as students realize they can, absolutely, sit down and read a book in the target language they are learning.
