My school has not had the resources to supply these kids with equipment for their athletic department. The sports at the school are never successful and that is because no one is putting in the time or effort or giving the sport a chance. Kids love to feel important and that they are a part of something. We do not have a gym, therefore the students are always outside, but when they do go inside (using a rec center) we are using the same balls that were used outside. It makes such a difference having outside balls vs inside balls. The students notice how beat up some of the equipment is and it is just a constant reminder of how they do not deserve "nice things". I am new to the school and looking to rebuild the whole program so kids want to come to the school, they want to be a part of a team/club, parents will be more engaged because their children are engaged. It is a constant domino effect and I am looking to affect more than just one person, I believe I can give this school and who belongs to it, hope.
