Throughout the school year, we will be learning our core words. These words correspond with the students' communication devices. We will not only learn the word, but the location and functionality of the word. Each one of these books will assist us in identifying through the text that we read throughout our books. Hopefully, these books will not only build our library, but they will pique the interest of the students. Each book we w use we will highlight a specific word. Our students with autism have a variety of interests. Students enjoy animals, princesses, super heroes and many other interests that I may or may not know about. Using fun materials and seating, such as a microphone, will hopefully draw out some students to interact with the books and activities.
