Many of them try so hard to work towards their goal with all the challenges they face (both academically and personally). Help me reward my students for all the ways that they show up in the classroom by donating to our prize box. All students earn "bones" for positive behavior (being respectful, responsible, safe, kind, showing grit, etc) and academics. I would like to take this one step further by creating a classroom prize box for my scholars. Students would then be able to trade in their "bones" for something from the box.
The prize becomes a tangible validation of the child's learning as well as reinforces that they are doing a good job. Additionally, with this project, I would like to create individual sensory bins for some of my students to use in the classroom when they get overwhelmed. This would give them one opportunity to refocus and reset their mind and well as their emotions while using a fidget toy.
