These books and materials will be part of a resource library for students who attend an alternative school for kids that's been described as "community college for kids."
Our students don't come for a full day. Instead, part of their education happens at home, and they check out materials from me. My goals are for these materials to increase phonemic awareness and entice reluctant readers to read.
We have kids who need to learn differently. Many of our kids have tried traditional public education, but, for one reason or another, it hasn't worked for them. We are a public school, but we are nontraditional. One of my kids told me, "I feel safe and happy here."
