Currently, many of my students come to me tired after long nights of homework, babysitting, and working their after-school jobs late into the evening. They find it difficult to stay awake the next morning, as their current seating situation do not allow them to get up and move around easily. Additionally, some of the students have ADHD and find it difficult to stay seated for 45 minutes, where movement is restricted.
My students need to connect with the world to better understand it, and the first step in this process is to connect with their classmates in a manner that is productive and engaging, By allowing students a variety of seating/standing options, they can more easily build positive peer and student-to-teacher relationships because they will spend more time on task and collaborating.
