During this time where we鈥檙e all finding our 鈥渘ew normal鈥 because of COVID-19, we know some of our students have needed a little extra boost with friendships and connecting with others. We have an exciting opportunity for students to participate in! We all could use a little extra help with:
鈥 making friends
鈥 taking turns
鈥 sharing
鈥 learning game rules
鈥 using words to engage with others
We work on these skills through a weekly friendship group known as the Wildcat Den/Sharing Sharks! Students come into the speech room and spend 15-20 minutes playing games, dancing to music, sharing toys/materials, and learning how to be a peer role model and friend.
Interested? Here are the logistics:
Who: 4-5+ students on a rotating schedule (we want to share the love and support!)
What: Friendship group to play games, make friends and have fun!
Where: The speech room!
When: 1x per week (15-20 minutes)
This is an awesome opportunity for your child to get support with making connections or be a peer model for others as well as learn compassion and patience for those children who do things a little differently!
