I stand by my classroom door greeting my students as they walk into class and of the 30 plus students, at least 5 enter with only the clothes on their bodies. We start every topic with a phenomenon for students to wonder about and start asking questions. Irrespective of the reasons why my students do not have their Chromebooks, my responsibility is to provide all of them with the opportunity to obtain, evaluate, and communicate information that answers their questions.
Spare laptops in the classroom fill a real gap, providing all my students with access so no Senior is left behind.
With these laptops all my students will be able to work collaboratively for example on a Jamboard to gather evidence to support the claims they propose for their questions, respect and critique ideas from peers, and use what they know to figure out what they do not know or as my students say, "I am using my brain"
