I am requesting a light table so my students can explore while fulfilling their sensory needs. I’ve noticed that when a child is given a choice with learning and especially with sensory play, it forms a new sense of confidence, self love, and awareness of others and their needs.
I believe having this light sensory table will not only positively impact several students in my classroom with special needs- but especially one little girl who struggles. She was born with Cornelia de Lange syndrome, and the only way we’ve been able to engage her in learning is through light and music. I truly feel having this resource in our classroom would help her get to know her classmates better and be able to play together with something that all can engage equally in. One of the most beautiful things I see every day, is when children play and learn together… without seeing any differences in one another.
