My students live below the poverty line. Their parents cannot provide them with the resources needed to fully benefit from a 21st century education. Although I purchased headphones for my class at the beginning of the year, I could only afford a few, as the money came from my own pocket. Since they were cheaply made, many of them have fallen apart or simply stopped working. Many of my students are ESOL or reading below grade level. These students highly benefit from tests and quizzes being read to them on the computer. Due to the problems mentioned above, that continues to be a huge challenge. I often assign my class various lessons on the computer that require listening. With Omicron cases increasing, we could switch back to digital learning at any time. My students often struggle to hear digital lessons at home due to all of the background noise of parents, younger siblings, or other students in the home with the same issue. They would greatly benefit from a class set of headphones.
