We will use these percussion instruments daily in our music classes and for performances throughout the year. Percussion instruments are accessible to all ages and ability levels, and the instruments can be paired with all curricular and performance songs. Pool noodles will be cut and used as drumsticks.
When playing percussion instruments, students develop hand-eye coordination, fine motor skills, auditory skills, and social skills. Students combine singing with rhythmic play when learning about word rhythms and the percussion family, as well as when learning to read music using symbols and notes.
Percussion instruments are durable, long-lasting, and require little maintenance. They can be moved easily and safely throughout the classroom or performance space if desired.
