As a new teacher, my classroom has limited resources. My children deserve every opportunity to succeed. I am working to create a classroom where the children feel safe and free to express themselves while in a distraction free, calming environment.
My students deserve a comfortable classroom where they have the opportunity to reach their full potential. Flexible seating is especially helpful for children with learning disabilities and social anxieties. We all perform best when we are comfortable. A variety of flexible seating like wobble stools, balance ball chairs, and bean bags will be used in my classroom to create stress free seating.
Other items needed for the children are educational resources and sensory items. Most of my students are delayed and need extra help in learning basic skills like letter/number recognition and counting. I have selected resources to help teach and reinforce learning while creating a fun experience. All of these resources will help my special students grow and thrive. Sensory items help engage the student's attention. Sensory items focus on sight, touch, sounds, smell, and taste. Sensory items that I have requested include the stress balls, chew chew teethers, water beads, and stretch string.
