Because of the intense direct instruction my students need in order to master skills, they often lose the fun of learning that others typically find. They are often in their seats, working at the front board. There isn't much fun involved in mastering the skills. Inserting fun into education is what helps students become motivated to learn the topics to the best of their abilities. When fun and games are incorporated into my students education, the difference in their own personal "want" to learn is amazing! They become so much more engaged and excited about what they are doing in the classroom.
With the help of these new learning board games, my students will not only master the skills needed to succeed, but have fun doing it. Education is best promoted with fun and excitement. Having these games in my classroom would encourage the students to continue to work on new skills while having good time doing it. The students will be able to continue mastering reading skills such as storytelling using the "Tall Tale Storytelling" board game and fact vs. opinion using the "Fact or Opinion" game. They will also get to work on math skills like creating equations using the "Head Full of Numbers" game and telling time using the "Perfect Timing" game.My students have already shown how good they are at overcoming deficits, but these games will help them even more.
