Each year I have fewer students spend time in our uninspiring reading area. The furniture is worn and falling apart. The carpet is stained and has a few holes. I hope bringing new colorful child size furniture will inspire my students to return to the reading area and explore the new Clifford books donated last year. Learning how to hold a book, turn the pages and explore the pictures are all first steps to reading now to read. The carpet will be place in the corner of the room with both chairs and pillows on top. I plan on hanging the canopy above the chairs to make it more private. I can’t wait to see my student in the new space and their smiles when they know it is all for them.
