I am requesting a large group table (kidney table) and stools to use when we have our small groups for reading. With a schoolwide focus on small group instruction, we spend a lot of time working in small groups to meet the student's individual needs and provide interventions.
Having a kidney table will minimize wasted transitional time, and will provide students with a comfortable learning environment and dedicated space to meet during small groups or when they need to collaborate.
Currently, when working with a group, we usually have to waste time rearranging desks or using a large rectangular folding table that is unpractical and unsafe. These seating arrangements can be uncomfortable, and students tend to get distracted due to the lack of proximity to the teacher. Also, with our current tables, it can be difficult to hear the students when they read, ask questions, or share out.
This large group table will be put to great use for many years and students to come!
