Anne Frank Elementary School is an inner city school with over 1200 students. 78% of those students are economically disadvantaged and 18% are English Language Learners. We are a diverse school with the following percentages of each ethnicity: 40.2% White, 16% African American, 22.3% Asian, 9.4% Latino, 11.5% other, 0.2% Pacific Islander, and 0.3% American Indian.
Each year our district's financial difficulties become greater, which takes a toll on the amount of materials that we are able to obtain to assist our students with success. Teaching a 1st grade class of students with English Language Learners is not always easy. Many students are struggling to reach grade level in reading.
With your help I can build a classroom environment that allows me to make learning accessible to all students, whether whole class at desks, whole class on the carpet, or small groups.
