I am working to diversify our school library. Presently, there are many books that feature white characters. I am trying to bring my students more diverse characters and also replace some of the books that have already been very well loved. Students will have the chance to enjoy these books in school and to take them home to share with their families. I believe both families and children will be thrilled to see books featuring characters that look more like them. It is vital to give our readers characters in which they can see themselves.
