My students are constantly looking for more opportunities to create music. They eagerly come to the music room before school and during their recess time for extra practice. Our students do live in a high poverty area and face many daily challenges.
However, students have found a positive outlet for expressing themselves and gaining self confidence through music performance.
Learning the ukulele provides a skill that the students can take with them and enjoy for the rest of their lives. I will be using the ukuleles during class time as well as beginning a ukulele ensemble that will have the opportunity to perform for our school and our community.
