Most teachers feel overwhelmed with the lack of resources they receive at the beginning of each year. This generally includes a "toolbox" of general supplies from administration at the start of pre-planning that includes (this may vary by school) a box of Kleenex, a roll of toilet tissue, a stapler, index cards, sticky notes, box of expo markers, a ream of copy paper, and etc... Most teachers make up for the lack by having a school supply list for students to purchase by a certain date. But most teachers spend various amounts of their own money to put resources and supplies in their classrooms. I want to restock my classroom of basic supplies that run out after the initial 2-3 months of each school year. Do not take my explanation of my given resources as a complaint, because I truly do appreciate and use each and every resource and supply that is given to me. But working at a 100% Tile 1 funded school, asking parents to restock the classroom is not an easy task. Because initial supplies rarely come in when the school year starts, the supplies I do have run out very quickly. I am looking for basic supplies like dry erase markers, graph paper, rulers, and etc... to help my Algebra 1 students begin a graphing unit that can be resource heavy. Also, having a classroom full of basic supplies, the students are more prone to success since the worry of basic needs is already met and the content is the only focus.
