My pre-k students visit the media center each week and after having our story and activity time they are given time for individual and/or partner reading. Although my students are very young it is important to have a variety of genres and at different levels for them to enjoy. Myself and the assistants also sit with small groups of students and read their chosen books to them during this time.
By having a selection of board books to enjoy my students will be able to read a variety of genres for their age, while also learning the proper care for books. This is a fun and exciting time for all of our students and we love seeing their excitement for reading at such an early age!
