At the beginning of the year, my students memorize the following stanza from "Invictus" by William Ernest Henley- "It matters not how strait the gate/how charged with punishments the scroll/I am the master of my fate/ I am the captain of my soul." My greatest desire is to teach my students that they are in control of their life, and they need to learn to make better choices. In order for them to make those choices, they need to know education is important. They also need to be equipped to go further in our technology driven world.
My language arts classes are very diverse. My students represent all racial, socioeconomic, and religious groups in our city. My goal for my students when they leave middle school is to be successful and motivated to continue learning. In order for that happen, my students need access to technology and other materials so that they can continue to be successful.
