My students are all from low income households and struggle on a daily basis living in a neighborhood plagued by crime. While they are all very curious and interested in learning many lack the support necessary for success at home. The school has been the sole support for many students for a while and is currently making a turnaround. There has been significant growth in many different areas including attendance, behavior and instruction. In providing an environment conducive to learning we have created an atmosphere of reading where students are not afraid to make mistakes and an environment that builds on the curiosity with real world application that can help to prepare our students for the world ahead.
The students are always wondering where they can improve and what they can do to get better at math concepts. In my classroom I work with many groups of students on different grade levels throughout the day and need to have access to their data at my fingertips so that I am able to support them with instruction in their classrooms as well as when they are with me.
