My students are part of a Title I school in North Las Vegas. Over 74% of our students qualify for free-reduced-lunch, and our graduation rate is less than 50%. Only 16% of our students have earned at least one college credit through AP exams, compared to the state's average of 27%. My students are motivated to learn and succeed and deserve access to the tools that will aid their success. I have made my classroom a digital one and while some students are able to bring in their own technology, not all are able to do so. I strive for equity within my classroom and want to provide technology for those who cannot afford it. I also want to provide them with fully functional laptops, which will have many educational benefits. For example, I use the Khan Academy online for remediation of math skills which demands a computer rather than a tablet or phone. My students deserve access to technology that will help them to be more successful.
