William M. Boyd Elementary School is a small, urban elementary school in the state of Georgia. Our clear priority is Children First. Consistently each day, this priority permeates throughout our elementary school to ensure that each child is receiving rigorous and relevant standards based instruction with high expectations as its foundation. Most live in the inner city and come from low income families. The students at at Boyd face many economic and social issues and 80% of the families have household incomes of $15,000 or below per annum. The majority of our children do not come from print-rich homes. With all of the challenges facing our students, they are still very excited about learning and are voracious readers, when the titles that they enjoy are available.
