In my classroom, I am creating life long learners. I am teaching my students that successful people continually have to make smart decisions, including making the best choice for them to be able to learn to their fullest potential. There is no better time to teach this life-long skill than in 1st grade. Even young students can learn to make the decision about what is going to help them best learn. With flexible seating options, including tables that will be set at different heights, stools, cushions, and other seating options, students learn how they work best. This allows students to be comfortable in their space and make learning more authentic. These tools also can help students who need mobility around the classroom and can improve focus, engagement, and learning.
