I have 21 first graders. I have 8 boys and 13 girls. Most of my students are less fortunate and did not bring any school supplies at the start of the year. Most of them live with grandparents and aunts and uncles, rather than their own parents. My school is a Title 1 school with a very diverse population. There are many non English speakers. Ninety percent of my children receive free or reduced priced lunch and 100% of my children receive free breakfast.
