Our students LOVE a great story. And they love to share what stories they've read to their peers. Students will see a peer struggling to find a book that captures their attention and draws them in, and pull their peer to their favorite genre section of our library to share their favorite reads of the year. It is a joy to watch.
Earlier this year I watched a student attempt to share his favorite novel with a student who had just transferred to our school from another district. This new student only reads in Spanish and we have zero books in written in Spanish in the library. Both students were frustrated and left the library upset. This needs to change.
Our ESL population is exploding in our district, and I see the need in our library daily. I'm requesting a variety of Spanish edition books including Yo no soy tu perfecta hija mexicana, Rebeldes, Wonder, and Diario de Greg.
Please help me bring the magic of reading to these students. I would love to fill shelves in our library with the Spanish versions of our school's most loved books!
