An easel in my classroom will give my students the opportunity to see rich words in big books and in my modeled writing lessons. The books will fit onto the ledge and will allow all on my students to see vibrant illustrations and predictable text to assist them in learning to read words for themselves.
The easel will also provide the students with an opportunity for us to write a class story about what we've read. The children love writing on the boards with markers so this will help me engage them in active writing. The markers in different colors will allow me to highlight specific words the children need to know. Writing on the board will motivate and excite them during a class lesson to write in their own journals. An easel would make a great addition to our rich learning environment.
