My students are completely engaged when using technology. I have a high activity class this year and technology seems to calm them and gives my students the chance to learn through technology. I am using Reflex, Prodigy, Frontrow, Reading Eggs, and Read Theory in my classroom daily. For this to be successful and to allow all my students to have a chance at this learning opportunity, I simply need more technology to use. This will allow my students to practice their math facts daily and hopefully heighten their math fact knowledge and carry that information into other areas of mathematics. Also, my students are using reading programs to practice comprehension and reading fluency. I am not able to be with my students at all times, so a computer that can read to them can be extremely beneficial. I am creating mathematicians and great readers by having fun and using technology! I believe that technology is key. We are now expected to know about computers before we enter jobs. My students need the practice with this skill and it can also benefit their typing skills. They are learning how to use laptops, how to navigate technology, how to type, and are learning life lessons. They are using games and other resources to strengthen their reading and math knowledge. My school is also starting to use Google classroom more; therefore, this will give my students the chance to learn about Google classroom and finish assignments that are placed in this platform. These laptops can create a greater classroom environment and give my students something to look forward to!
