The health and physical education department at our school has been given the opportunity to get more movement out of our students by developing a new class experience. Students enrolled in our "Gamified PE" class will be engaged in exercise movements while simultaneously using technology to track their health and wellness. Our students will level up and increase their health and wellness outside of the gymnasium.
With a class set of iPods, the students will have immediate access to the fitness applications needed to have success in the newly established "Gamified PE" curriculum. This curriculum has been designed around the games and applications currently available for students and teachers to access. These applications and games require students to perform an exercise motion for a designated amount of time before their created character will move throughout the game.
This class will not only help students keep a positive connection with exercise but provide them with a convenient way to stay on top of their wellness. If our students can get in touch with their health and wellness, it will give them a better opportunity to perform at higher levels in the academic classroom.
