I taught and will continue to teach third-grade at a high-needs elementary school. Many of my students also lack technology at home since their parents are unable to afford Internet services. When projects are assigned, some students are unable to complete them due to their lack of resources. When I really wanted my students to get a visual of what I was teaching, I had to gather all 24 of them around a desktop. Believe it or not, they were extremely excited and engaged when this occurred. Technology in the classroom is a must in this day and age and without it, I feel my students are at a disadvantage. I know my incoming group of third graders will be both delighted and motivated to learn, especially since their former second-grade classrooms were outfitted with smart boards. I'll do what's necessary to make learning as exciting as I possibly can without technology, but with it, just imagine what they will be able to do!
