The students that come into my classroom are eager to learn. They truly love when the lessons can be "hands-on". It makes them engaged and excited about what they are learning. The problem is our districts lack of a decent budget. The few materials available are old and worn out or non existent. My students live in a low socioeconomic neighborhood and come from various backgrounds. They come to school counting on the consistency and routine that they may not receive from home and home support can be difficult to rely on. I try to ensure that my classroom is a safe haven for students to feel comfortable and safe and prepared to learn. My goal is to not only teach and get them on grade level or above, but to expose them to subjects and experiences they may not get outside of school.
