I teach in the best school ever! Our school is Title 1, on a dirt road, and has the BEST view of the sunrise in the morning. The administration and staff are so innovative and supportive of each other. If someone wants to try something new, they have many people behind them, rooting for their success. We teach a wide variety of students who come from diverse backgrounds. These kids are in our building for 6-8th grade... some very formative years. I believe that our responsibility as middle school teachers is to help raise kind, respectful, and responsible citizens. I get to do that through reading and writing! My classroom is a place where students can discover who they are, and figure out who they want to be through reading and writing. I teach 8th grade language arts. In my class students read a lot and they write a lot. Together we read, share, recommend, laugh, compliment, write, and even cry in my classroom.
