The seating I am requesting will allow my students to not only expand their learning, but gain a sense of comfort within our classroom. Using alternative seating within a classroom is an amazing tool that allows students to increase focus and overall academic performance through the increase in oxygen that the brain receives as a result of movement. By allowing students to pick seating choices, aside from traditional desks, students have the ability to move and wiggle without distracting other learners.
Alternative seating not only improves overall academics, but teaches children to be self-aware. Students become more in tune with what seating they learn best in. They are able to not only grow educationally, but as a whole child.
By providing alternative seating within my classroom, I will be able to move away from the "traditional learning environment" so many children already dislike and be able to create a community of learners that enjoy coming to school!
